Social
Service

2017-2018

We provide numerous opportunities for our members to help those in need. Understanding how privileged we are as university students in a stimulating learning environment, we not only cherish the opportunities given but would also like to give back to our society. There is no better way to gain a thorough insight into our society than working hand-in-hand with various stakeholders to tackle different social problems. Therefore, we organise different service programmes throughout the year for our members to enrich their experience outside classrooms.

Amazing Raise 2018

Amazing Raise, the flagship event of UCLPASS, combines city tracing and detective game. In this innovative event, the participants visited various checkpoints in London and the UCL campus to search for clues to solve a murder case. The crime and the checkpoint games were all closely related to “mental illness”, the theme of the event this year. UCL PASS is pleased that the participants relished the fundraising event, and, above all, had a better understanding of mental disorder and raised money for Young Minds.

Summer Volunteering

Every year during summer, we host a volunteering event for freshers. In the summer of 2017, we collaborated with Food Angel, and with 20 freshers, we worked in a community centre to cook meals for those in need. We ended the event with our first social where we went to a café for dinner and freshers had the chance to get to know each other and the committee better.

Our summer flagship overseas service trip takes place annually in Treetop Country, Chiang Mai, Thailand. During this time, we visit and teach English in the schools of Wiang Pa Pao village.

Global Village: Hong Kong Snacks Sale

Global Village is an international food fair hosted by AISEC UCL. We participated in the fair by spreading Hong Kong culture through food. We sold traditional Hong Kong snacks such as siu mai and Chinese sausage buns. The event was a huge success as many non-Hong Kong students loved our food. All our food was sold out!
